Information Sessions
In 2025 March members of the DRPC committee shared information with interested poultry-keepers on "Keeping Poultry in the Top End". Useful products and strategies were discussed.
In August 2025 at the Club Sale Day, samples of commercial poultry feed products were displayed, and information packs from the NT Department of Agriculture were made available.
Avian Influenza Seminar
In August 2024 Mr Rob Williams, Chief Veterinary Officer of the NT, spoke to a group of interested club and community members about the current situation in Australia re Avian Influenza (AI). His talk was very informative, explaining the different strains of AI and what our response should be if we suspect a bird has, or has died from, AI.
He was impressed by the thoughful questions of our juniors.

Sausage-Making
In October 2023 and August 2024, Jacquie Deveraux shared her culinary and butchering expertise with club and wider community members in demonstrating how to use minced chicken and turkey meat to make sausages. The workshop participants were very satisfied with their efforts, especially that they coulod take home and eat the result of their labours!





School Projects
Over the last few years, many Darwin schools have borrowed the club's incubation equipment, with great results. Club members donated fertile eggs. Members visited the classrooms to give talks on egg incubation and caring for chicks.



April 2021 and November 2022 letters to Council of Darwin re proposed amendments to By-laws
Council of Darwin initially called for submissions to inform considerations for its proposed amendments to Darwin Council By-laws on the keeping of poultry; and then called for public responses to the draft By-laws. Read the letters here:
