Club Information

The Darwin and Rural Poultry Club emerged from the Freds Pass Poultry Group, which was formed in 2014 by a few enthusiastic breeders who showed their birds at the Freds Pass Show at a time when there was no poultry club or support for breeders.

Since then, there has been a small, energetic group of like-minded people who are committed to excellence – whether it’s in their own personal animal husbandry, or in breeding and selecting birds for showing – who became the committee and have steered the club ever since.

In the last few years we have introduced events to encourage and mentor juniors e.g. Junior Handler competition at our annual club show; Young Judges competition at the Freds Pass/Litchfield Rural Show.

The Club consists of people who love their poultry and wish to promote good animal husbandry of their feathered friends. We do this by sharing knowledge and by learning, and by encouraging poultry fanciers to join and learn. The success of the club depends on goodwill and good relationships between members.
